Self Portrait final

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m a man of wealth and taste. More importantly, I’m a self-publishing e-book author. I currently have the first two books of a trilogy called Sustainable Earth and the first book of a series called the Paladin Files published.

For most of my life I’ve been an avid reader of Science Fiction and Fantasy. I love books where a flawed hero kicks serious butt. I’ve always known that I had what it takes to be a successful author because I have all the most important characteristics of the authors I like.

First of all, I’m a nerd. All my favorite authors are clearly nerds. Second, I’ve studied martial arts. All my favorite authors have studied martial arts. They all know exactly how and why they are getting beat up. Finally, even though I’m not all that good looking, I find my face fascinating. Every time I come across a mirror I am unable to take my eyes off my surprisingly attractive face. If you look at photographs of all the authors I like, you can tell that they are just like me. These are men who have no reason to think that they are good looking who believe that they are unusually attractive.

Since I have all the hallmarks of a successful author, it was inevitable that I become one. I hope you buy my books.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Drew

Just to let you know I am still writing. I’ve got a rough draft done of two new books in a series called Role Playing Game done. I’m happy with the first book in the series. The second book, I’m not so happy with, and I plan on re-writing it completely.

The reason I haven’t published the first book is that I’m trying out a brand new way to write my books.
A lot of writers work from an outline. They figure out exactly what is going to happen before they start writing. I’m totally the opposite. I have no idea what is going to happen in my books until I type the words. I have a brain that requires total freedom to go wherever when I write.

This means I’m always making continuity errors. I deal with continuity errors by going back to what I’ve written already and changing them after the fact.
This style works great for my first book of the series and not so bad in my second book of a series, but really starts to bog down with my third book. I get trapped mentally by the books I’ve already published because I can’t go back and re-write them. The choices and places I can go in a story become more and more limited by the stuff I’ve already published.

That’s what’s going on with my Zombie books. I’m having a really hard time finishing off the series because I’ve fixed so many details that I can’t change. Mark Jones has to kill Dalak Naar but has to do it in a way that is compatible with the previously published books in this series and I’m really having a problem coming up with a plot that works.

So what I’m trying to do now is finish all the books of a series before I publish any of them. This also allows me to finish my books on cliffhangers. As a reader, I can’t stand cliffhanger unless I have the option of buying the next book in the series right away.
My new series Role Playing Game is my homage to a genre that is extremely popular in Asia. The best book of this type is called The Moonlight Sculptor. There are free translations of this Korean book into English on the internet. I recommend that you check it out. It’s about people who play total immersion fantasy role playing games. The translation is all that great, but you get what you pay for i.e. it is free. The story and plot is a lot of fun. The one issue I had with this story and other like it (Ark, Arifureta, etc) is the basic premise of these books were pretty unbelievable, so I decided to write a series of what it would really be like to play a virtual reality massive multiplayer online role playing game. My plan is to write a total of 3 to 5 books in the RPG series and then to publish them all at once.

I’m currently taking a break from RPC and writing my first book of another series called the Mundane Mage. It’s about a slacker of an old man who hasn’t accomplished anything in his life who ends up dying in a robbery and is reincarnated in a Medieval-type world where magic works, and of course, everyone wants to kill him. For some reason, having a bunch of people trying to kill him gives him enough drive and ambition to become a badass. And of course, it’s an advantage to look like a little kid but have a mind of a cynical old man.

So this is a really long answer to your comment about wanting me to write more books. I am. It’s just going to take a while before they are published, but when they are, there are going to a whole bunch of books published at the same time.

Glad to hear your still writing. I’ve re-read the Sustainable Earth series several times and I’m looking forward to the conclusion.

Thanks, sorry it’s taking so long for me to finish that series. It’ll be a while longer. Not that I’m trying to compare myself to George RR Martin, but I understand what he’s going through.

Will there be another book in the “Sustainable Earth” series? With Dalak Naar having split his conscious being it seems like there are more books to come. Would love to know what comes next. Keep on writing. We loved both series.

Yes, I plan to write another book in the Sustainable Earth Series but unfortunately I’m going through somewhat of a writer’s block about this series. It’ll be a while before the next book in the series comes out.

Heh, I haven’t been working on that series for a while. I’m currently 16 thousand words into another book and series called Bag of Holding: Book 1 of the Apocalypse Game. We’ll see if I can finish it before I lose interest. I’ll send you a beta copy if I ever do finish it.

Sorry Troy, a paladin files book 3 is not in the works. I may go back to that series but it’ll probably be years at the earliest. For some reason, I’m obsessed right now with Sci/Fi from Asia (translated Japanese, Korean, and Chinese novels) and all the books I’ve been working on for the past year are based on these Asian tropes (cultivation based stories, traditional Asian magic, and litRPG). I’ve got the beginnings of a bunch of books written. Unfortunately, I’ve losing interest in all the stories I’ve written so far and haven’t finished any of them. I hope to finish one of them soon. Please wish me luck.
